Karlos writes questions about the organization (maybe they'll enroll from the Peninsula?) they are travelling visiting many permaculture projects, Karlos was the coordinator last year, and did a great job, especially considering that he'd never organized something like this.

News about the Festival of Creativity y Sustainibility ...

... previously known as the Festival of the 13 Moons!!

 

Big pause without official news!

But we keep working, although slowly when needed, because we're all primarily small organic growers and artesans & / or activists for sustainability ... many hands make light work and now that more hands are joining ... what joy :)

 

we are now translating the wiki to english ... help very welcome!

(you can get to the spanish site from the menu > top right)

 

although we changed the name to enphasize the stimulation of local sustainability ... we keep with the same dates to celebrate the Day out of Time, joining with all who celebrate this around the world (it is a cosmic event, when our Great Star Sirius dawns).

We launched this new wiki after deciding among the new Group of Organisers (see Organise) to change the name of the festival to the "Festival of Creativity and Sustainability", so to focus more clearly on the cental aims behind this initiative.

We held a wonderful Evaluation dinner amongst the majority of the festival organising group.

Simone and Anna from the El Castillo Tasca made a delicious curry based meal, and later we held rounds of evaluation, using a small dictaphone as 'stick to talk'- what we liked about the organisation of the festival, what we didn´t like and what we thought we could do better the next year.

We recorded the various evaluations and some beautiful things came out of it.  It was fun to hear the answers.. we hope to have it available here to download soon..

Everyone was happy with what we had achieved and enthusiastic with many ideas to improve the festival next year.

 

 

The accounts:

 

267 Dragos Lunares were changed (equivalent to 267 euros) and were circulated several times...

 

In order to be able to calculate the circulation we asked each person to sign behind the note when it passed through their hands.. this calculation I still haven´t made, but the fact that we changed more than 250euros, with so few people...

 

If, for example, a 10 drago lunar note changed hands 3 times, it´s not worth 10 dragos, but 10x3.. 30 dragos (or euros).

 

Later 186 dragos lunares were re-changed into euros, with 10% exchange tax, we were left with 18.60 euros in commissions and the remaining 81 euros representing the 81 dragos lunares are still around in circulation (or bought as souvenirs).

 

 

Everything is designed not only to be easily duplicated but also so that we can work as a network, and if only 3 or 4 'nodes' get together it would be a national movement! (with all the benefits of publicity shared, and without any of the disadvantages of globalisation).

 

We didn´t make any great efforts with publicty this year either (mainly through lack of time), therefore it was mainly the same members that made use of the workshops on offer.. a great family feeling which we liked on one hand, on the other we all realised, practising on a small scale, how effective it could be if we would have obtained the participation of only a few tourists.  It was great to be able to practise like this for the first time with the alternative currency.. a rehearsal so that all the members were able to know how to handle the new currency. 

 

Next year we hope the web page will be in English and German.. already several new members have signed up to participate in the festival organisation but would like to begin with much more than 2 months notice so that funding can be obtained, because we are creating maybe the most orginal offer, with regards to culture, that exists in the Islands..
